I agree with the point that a kid doing terrible things might be easier excused due to lack of knowledge, experience and understanding, but I LOVE that whenever someone tries to tell that to Harry he’s like “well I’M young, watch me doing the right thing!” Which is fair

dumbledore loved harry, but ultimately, he chose the greater good over the life of the boy he cared about. his own past taught him what could happen when love and ambition cloud your judgment — his obsession with grindelwald contributed to the tragedy that destroyed his family and cost ariana her life. he spent years carrying that guilt, which makes his relationship with harry even more complicated. and honestly, keeping his past with grindelwald a secret made sense, too. it wasn't really harry's business, and i doubt dumbledore would have felt comfortable telling his student he'd once been in love with the dark lord. he was probably ashamed of that part of his past, and harry didn't need to know every intimate detail of his life to understand him. dumbledore could genuinely love harry and still make terrible choices
