If you were pregnant you should have been taking 4000 mcg of folic acid even before getting pregnant. Did your OB have you on that?

Feeling a little triggered as a medical mom because I struggle to put all of these emotions into words for my medical child, but also your platform is so huge I so appreciate you expressing what it’s like to have to sedate your child and how upsetting it is. -signed a mom who’s 4 year old has been sedated over a dozen times 🥺🫶🏼

Why didn’t they ultrasound it right out of the gate? My son was born with a sacral dimple too and I have zero back history but they did an ultrasound immediately.

We are also in Pittsburgh. I have tethered cord and Chiari malformation. We have struggled to get them to listen about my son with similar symptoms. They did diagnose the chiari in him as well as some other findings but haven't fully investigated TC for him.

Both of my boys were born with cleft lip and palate and we have surgery #28 in two weeks. It never gets easier to see your littles put under. Praying for your little guy.

Please never feel silly for telling a pediatrician you have a gut feeling something needs to be checked out. Parental - specifically maternal - intuition is literally a large factor they take into consideration when deciding if further investigation needs to be done. A mother's intuition is crazily accurate!
