She left portal open not just for humans but for DANGEROUS CREATERS AS WELL. Imagine walking on a street and all the sudden face stealer show up and steal your face just be you saw funny picture on a way out

The only reason y Aang is better then korra apart from the basic obvious reasons, is that aang know he can’t do it on his own, so he always tends to ask for guidance, while our miss’s over here thinks she can do everything own are own because she the avatar, which made her, make a lot of mistakes, and still fail to learn from dem
