@itshannahzhang: If your experience makes sense to you but looks confusing on a resume, try looking for the job by the problem you'd solve. A few places I'd start: 1️⃣ Founder’s associate or business operations: for people who can take an unclear problem, work across teams, and get something moving. 2️⃣ A startup’s first marketing hire: for people who can talk to customers, write, and figure out how to get a product in front of the right audience. Ask about the support and budget. “Do everything” can also mean an impossible job. 3️⃣ Product operations or growth: for people who like working between customer feedback, product decisions, and the numbers. Two places to look for roles: Next Play (nextplay.so) and Ali Rohde (https://alirohdejobs.substack.com/) When you apply, pick a problem in the job description and show where you've solved something similar. Make the connection for them. 🏷️ nonlinear career, generalist, startup jobs, career pivot, product marketing, business operations, career advice

I’m not seeing this! I am a business generalist but only finding specialist positions!

In the past two years of being on LinkedIn and every day and searching job boards with AI, recruiters are looking for title to title searches. Please prove me wrong. I would love a generalist job

I hope you’re right because that’s the issue in my job search. I’ve worked and have transferable skills in multiple areas but can’t get hired because companies are looking for someone who’s done that exact role for multiple years.

So perhaps… I was definitely more attractive as a marketer bc I vibe code and know ai well… but it was still the hardest job search I ever had earlier this year. I think people need to not only have these skills, but know how to be visible that you have them as well… which is perhaps what your post describes!

I don't disagree at all. But job posts and jobs descriptions are narrow. How to get the right match like this? How to get the visibility?
