@60minutes: Clara Shih has a dire warning about AI: "Without intervention, what happened to manufacturing will happen across every major city in America." “I think it's happening faster than many people realize,” she says, pointing to the stat that one in two recent grads in the U.S. today are either unemployed or underemployed, working in jobs that don't require their degree. Shih is concerned about the impact of AI on jobs and founded a nonprofit, New Work Foundation, to help young people navigate this new economy. #futureofwork #ai
Its been happening already. AI did something for me that would have taken weeks and several young analyst hires. AI did it a few hours with rough prompt. It was intuitive enough to fill in the gaps and I didnt spend weeks in endless meetings providing feedback.

They'll have to provide a minimum living wage if this many people will be unemployed. That or we need to get real comfortable with poverty at massive scales

What’s interesting is we wouldn’t need office buildings. Real estate tanks. Wouldn’t need the majority of commercial building in the cities

People not having to do mindless, soul destroying office & other repetitive work is not dystopian. People without purpose or resources are the issues…but very few are really thinking about the concept of that, let alone how to solve it.

3 to 5 years. But in five years when it's mostly implemented, a lot of people will be looking around so this is natural right it's been like this for a few years… This is the new normal? But the only way it can be effective --) democracy has really gotta be close to extinct/ineffective. Everybody here on TikTok has no qualms about policing their language… Can't say this word can't say that word… Yeah, whatever. There would be a massive kickback to that kind of common censorship in the 1990s, the 1980s, the 1970s...

Not just AI, tech firms are full of H1B visa holders, and they and they only hire H1B visa holders from India because all the tech executives are also Indians.
