Grief is like glitter. When you first open it, it gets everywhere. It’s in your sheets, your clothes, your hair. You clean and scrub and wash every inch of everything and over time you think you finally have it all. One day, you open your car door, or a cupboard. You grab a sweater you haven’t worn in months and there it is; a tiny piece of glitter. It all comes back and you sit with it again, wondering how it’s there when you swore you got it all. Like glitter, grief never really goes away. You find small pieces of it every now and then, except this time, those small pieces make you smile and laugh. This year my son was born and my grandpa isn’t here to see another great grandchild. It hurts more than I ever imagined it would
