@billboard: Fuerza Regida — the música mexicana band from California's Inland Empire known for stretching the boundaries of corridos tumbados — has successfully moved between regional Mexican, hip-hop and broader Latin spaces without ever abandoning its identity. The group just completed its first U.S. stadium tour (to the tune of over $50 million in grosses, according to Billboard Boxscore) with shows that incorporated hip-hop swagger, futuristic imagery and pop spectacle — but its center is still five musicians playing instruments associated with a tradition that, until recently, was rarely treated as a global force. And as Fuerza looks toward its next era (and a forthcoming album rumored to be titled 2032), its charismatic singer, Jesús Ortiz Paz (better known as JOP) is simultaneously building an infrastructure to support it — and the artists who follow in its footsteps — with Street Mob Records. Ahead of #BillboardLatinWeek, (where the band will sit down for a Superstar Q&A), the members of Fuerza Regida open up about how they are creating a possible blueprint for how other música mexicana acts can reach wider audiences while staying true to their roots for the cover of Billboard's Latin Power Players issue.
