CORNELL UNIVERSITY CASE UPDATE | OCTOBER 9, 2026 JUDGE SEALS COURT DOCUMENTS FOLLOWING THREATS AGAINST AN UNRELATED FAMILY A disturbing development in the Cornell University Chi Phi sexual assault lawsuit. A New York Supreme Court judge has ordered several court documents sealed after filings mistakenly included the residential address of a U.S. Marine who shares a name with one of the defendants. The Marine has absolutely no connection to the alleged sexual assault at Cornell. He never attended the university. Nevertheless, he and his family reportedly received threats after their address appeared in publicly accessible court documents. The judge ordered the affected records sealed and requested redacted replacement filings to protect personal information. This ruling does not address the merits of Jane Doe’s allegations. The civil lawsuit remains ongoing, and no criminal charges have been announced against the seven men named in the case. Accountability matters. So does accuracy. Threatening innocent people, harassing families, or targeting someone because they share a name with an accused individual is unacceptable. We can demand justice without abandoning due process or putting innocent people in danger.
