Northern Ireland Secretary Chris Bryant announced this evening that he is to ban the Orange Order parade as it is “not in the public interest”. A decision by the Parades Commission last month to allow the march down the mainly nationalist Garvaghy Road to go ahead had led to a stand-off between residents and Orange Order members.
