They truly are selling out of date stuff so many times I went there and they had things on the shelf that expired sometimes weeks ago. And not just frozen fresh refrigerated stuff as well.

Worth knowing the difference between 'best before' and 'use by' dates. Best before is about quality, not safety, and shops can legally sell food past it. Use by is the one that matters for safety, and it's mostly on chilled food. If your food was frozen and kept frozen, it won't make you ill past the date, because bacteria basically stop growing in the freezer. The only catch is to eat it soon after defrosting. Kept frozen and properly packaged, it's fine for a long time. The quality might dip a little, but it's not unsafe.
