@theartcoach: Today I sat inside the Medici Chapel in Florence and drew Saint Cosmas, sculpted by Giovanni Angelo Montorsoli from a model by Michelangelo. There are moments as an artist where you realize you’re living something a younger version of yourself would have dreamed about. I’ve spent most of my life studying the artists who worked here, looking at their drawings in books, trying to understand how they saw and thought. Today I got to sit quietly in the same city, in front of the work itself, open my sketchbook and draw. Sometimes making art isn’t about creating something impressive. Sometimes it’s simply about being present enough to appreciate how lucky you are to be there.
