People around the world will be watching birds and sharing their sightings with eBird. You don’t have to be an expert, and you can participate right from your backyard! Here’s how to join: Create a FREE account at eBird.org and download the free eBird Mobile app. Watch birds on Saturday, October 10. You can join from anywhere in the world! Even 5–10 minutes counts. Open eBird Mobile and tap “Start Checklist” when you begin watching. Record the birds you can confidently identify by sight or sound, and how many of each you find. Try not to count the same individual twice! When you’re finished, tap “Stop.” Confirm your location and review your checklist, including your time, duration, and distance if you walked. Answer “Yes” to the complete checklist question if you included ALL the species you could identify(not just your favorites). It’s okay if there were other birds you couldn’t identify! Tap “Submit” so your sightings become part of the count! Start a new checklist if you bird at another location. If you need help identifying a bird, Merlin Bird ID can help. Only report identifications you’re confident about. Your observations help scientists learn more about birds and common backyard birds matter too! Save this for tomorrow, invite someone to join, and tell me where you’ll be birding! #bigday #birding #conservation #youngphotographer #birds - @tylerlovestodraw
