I went to try a horse once and the trainer (who is very well known and does high level eventing) didn’t disclose to me that this horse had dumped many people INCLUDING HIM and that horse took off with me and broke MY back. Found out a few weeks later that horse had a broken back himself and they euthanized him.

We bought my daughter a HUS horse and then the old owner reached out to question how we were keeping him sound. Find out they nerved him and did not disclose, and there was no scarring. We retired him this year, and she is broken.

It’s a shame that the "market" is driven solely by commissions, rather than by the sheer pleasure of seeing the horse you recommended or sold take its new rider on to better experiences... 🤷🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

i sold a horse back in may to this mother and her 11yo novice daughter, and they had previously went and viewed a “bombproof kids horse” a few days ago and when the mother got on for a test ride, the horse was bucking and trying to bolt and actually dumped her😬 anyway… the daughter is now cantering confidently on the horse i sold them, she was barely trotting when they bought him

That’s so frustrating. I haven’t ever sold a horse, but IF I ever did, I would want it to go to a home that best fits! How do you know if they’re a good fit, if you’re lying about the horse’s personality???

My grandfather bred Arabians. When he got too old to take care of them, we had to sell most of them. We were brutally honest with everyone who came to see them. Most of them were not broke to ride or had not been written in years and the amount of people who wanted to test ride them was concerning. We were selling them as breeding prospects, not riding horses so honestly, the delusion goes both ways buyers are delusional, and sellers lie.

It makes me sad for the horses too. People wonder how they end up in horrible situations, this is how! God forbid we do the work to find out *why* the horse is having these problems, and take the time to fix it or make necessary changes. This industry disappoints me more every day
