Texan here, this is what I try to convey to folks that have left their blue states to come here. The reason that you left your blue state most of the time is because everything was so unaffordable. Then you came here to either Texas or another red state and you can’t see the issue of that the people and or policies that you voted for is the exact same reason that you fled the blue state. Increasing taxes and funding all these social programs is taking more money out of your paycheck and you’re not able to survive barely if that! Why do you want to subject yourself to that again?

Just quickly commenting on gas prices: I used to work for a trucking company, part of my job was updating the prices customers were charged for gas. And I just want everyone to know that there was section of “national average minus California” because their rates were an outlier back in 2019. So 7 years later, I’m not surprised that their prices are an even further removed outlier (and you can 100% thank Gavin Newsome for it)

When I was stationed in California back in 05-09 gas was $4- $4.50. And for being an underwater welder and known a smidge about the oil and gas industry, next to the Gulf of Mexico or Gulf of America, whatever it is and Alaska, California has the third largest oil deposit, but they tax the crap out of all of that so much two of the oil companies are leaving there and company Texas.
