@that.labor.nurse: 🚨 You gave birth last week, so you’re in the clear for preeclampsia, right?! WRONG! Postpartum preeclampsia can develop AFTER childbirth, even if you had perfectly normal blood pressure throughout your entire pregnancy! 😳 New moms, PLEASE know the warning signs of postpartum preeclampsia: severe headaches, blurred vision, sudden vision changes, upper abdominal pain, shortness of breath, and high blood pressure after delivery. Postpartum preeclampsia can develop up to 6 weeks after giving birth, and sometimes even later. This potentially life-threatening postpartum complication can lead to seizures, stroke, and other serious maternal health emergencies if left untreated. As a labor and delivery nurse, I want every pregnant woman and postpartum mom to understand that just because your baby has been delivered doesn’t mean the risk is over! 🚨 If you’re experiencing these warning signs after childbirth, seek immediate medical evaluation. ❤️ SHARE this with a pregnant friend or new mom. It could save her life! #PostpartumPreeclampsia #PreeclampsiaAwareness #PostpartumRecovery #MaternalHealth #PregnancyTips

Just had this conversation today with a patient who delivered 7 days ago. Came in the office to have PICO removed. While reviewing chart and speaking with her , “ How have you been feeling? Replies ok but over the past 2 days I have a headache I can’t kick & seeing stars 🙈 but I know I’m sleep deprived. I already knew this wasn’t going to be a great BP, nope sure wasn’t 200/140😳

when I had my kids I was in the hospital for 3 days had no complications with either and tubes tied day after son was born why did they shorten the hospital stay to 1-2 days if not same day as long as no complications wouldn't it be better to have the extra time just in case of late onset if complications

My sister did after her 2nd C-section. If my nephew wouldn't have been admitted last minute into the NICU for an infection my sister probably wouldn't have lived. She kept telling the nurses something was wrong but the nurses labeled her drug seeking... Her seizure is what got their attention...

Went to the er for feeling like crap, racing heart, nauseous, couldn’t keep food down, and fatigue. Thought it was the pills. Went to the er, went home after waiting a couple hours. The triage nurse called me back to come back to the er immediately. I thank that nurse because idk what would have happened if I didn’t go back that night.

Was put on mag drip immediately after delivery 😮‍💨 glad they were being cautious so I didn’t have to go back and be readmitted.

Was diagnosed with severe preclampsia at 31 weeks. Had my baby via c Section at exactly 32 weeks. My preclampsia did not go away until almost four months after my baby was born.

I developed it just 2 days after being discharged from the hospital 😩😩 Postpartum recovery has been so much rougher than pregnancy 🥲 I started seeing “fireworks,” my ankles and hands became swollen, and I had a mild headache. I think the highest my blood pressure got was around 140/110 😅
