In this video I’m showing you how I can plums at home using a simple water bath canning method. It’s an easy way to preserve fresh plums so you can enjoy them later in the year. I’m using demerara sugar for the syrup, but white sugar is as good. What I Used * Fresh plums * Demerara sugar * Water * Glass jars with lids and bands * A large pot for water bath canning. First I washed my jars really well and sterilised them by placing them in boiling water. Then I prepared the plums by washing them, cutting them in half, and removing the stones. Next I made a simple syrup using water and demerara sugar, just heating it until the sugar dissolved. I packed the plums into the hot jars, then poured the warm syrup over the top, leaving a bit of space at the top. I cleaned the jar rims with vinegar to make sure there was no sugar or fruit residue that could stop them sealing properly. Then I put the lids on and tightened the bands fingertip tight. I placed the jars into a boiling water bath, making sure they were fully covered, and processed them for the correct time. Finally, I took them out carefully and let them cool. You’ll hear the lids pop as they seal. PS: i had a bit of siphoning but the impostor has been found and dealt with. 😅 ok, that’s it, like, follow and comment for more prepping content and also for helping me get out of TikTok’s shadow banning. Stay safe everyone!
