COURTROOM IN CHAOS! NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE! Two men, Paul Smith and Daquan Arrington were being sentenced to manslaughter in an Albany, New York courtroom. During a victim impact statement by the mother of the man killed in the drive-by shooting, a person in the courtroom started arguing with one of the suspects. That man was forcibly removed by the court. Later during Arrington’s sentencing, his lawyer Timothy Berry, addressed the court, but it wasn't speaking on behalf of his client or about the crime. He launched into a politicized speech talking about “the glorification of violence and guns in the United States of America” and “the massive wealth inequality and resource inequality and the effect that is having on our political system.” As he brought up the topic of the war in Gaza, Judge Thomas Marcelle ordered Berry removed from the courtroom and stated that there would be a contempt hearing as a result of Berry’s actions. As for the two men charged in this case, Smith was sentenced to 21 years in prison, but sentencing for Daquan Arrington was postponed due to courtroom drama.
