Technically, it is "cheaper" in terms of plastic quantity. With the 60 dollar MTMTE, you get the optimus in his entirety plus his ion blaster, plus the 20 dollar 3P arm and optional head. the regular prime arm remains in your possession on top of having the megatron arm, while the energon prime only has the megatron arm without the possibility of putting on a standard prime arm without taking it from another figure which would be at minimum 60 bucks to even do (not taking into account plastic color matching since the reds on all 3 primes are slightly different)
