In 2019 my mortgage was $1900 and rent was $1600. 7 years later my mortgage is $1900 and rent is now $2300. Let’s see what rent is in 10 years when my mortgage is still $1900. Also, I paid $350k and it’s worth $550k now.. But, to each their own.

For me rent is WAY cheaper. I pay $900 a month. That is it. Roof goes bad? Landlord pays it. Water heater goes? Landlord pays it. ANYTHING GOES BAD? Landlord pays it. I’m not paying taxes. So yeah, renting is cheaper in the long run. Duh.

Buying a house is the largest wealth builder in America. A mortgage stays the same, rents always increase.

Everyone here who is speaking about the mortage/house they obtained 10-20 years ago is acting like they don’t know the economy is TOTAL TRASH right now. Buying now is no where near as cheap as buying back then

This is dumb because you have to live somewhere anyway to live. You might as well keep the house after 30 years. Giving money to someone else gets rich is dumb

It’s still not yours, even if you paid off because the government can increase property taxes so high that you can’t afford your property taxes and now they get the home anyways and that’s exactly what happened to me when I became a divorced mother they kept raising my property taxes on my house I lived in and now I rent screw them

100% facts. i ran all the math thru ai. 25k down on a house and the remaining amount for 30 years versus renting. on average rent is 400-600$ cheaper than homeownership. if u invest that monthly plus the downpayment it will outperform the house 10 20 and 30 years. by the time they pay off the house 200k will be worth like 400k and investing will be like 800k to 1.5m lol. 5m+ for bitcoin. even those people that say "pay it off quick, put more down for cheaper payments" no matter what u put in, you will make more by putting that into s&p 500. etc..

I refinanced to take years off not money out. I paid it off at 49 years old. Then did an equity loan to buy a fixer upper, then another. One for each son to rent to own at the age of 20 instead of college. Sold the original house and bought a nicer one with more land that's only 1 mile from one son and 2 miles from the other.
