@lookagain.tv: October 9, 2026 | Santiago, Chile Flash floods and mudslides have devastated parts of Santiago, with muddy torrents sweeping vehicles through streets, flooding homes and businesses, and leaving neighborhoods buried in debris. The hardest-hit area includes Las Condes, where a state of emergency was declared. Authorities say 14.4 cm / 5.7 inches of rain fell in recent days, about nine times Santiago’s average October rainfall. The Mapocho River overflowed, more than 1,000 people were rescued or evacuated, and at least six people were injured. The danger did not come from water alone. Mud, branches, rocks and other debris were carried through streets, trapping and displacing vehicles as saturated ground increased the risk of additional landslides. #Chile #Santiago #FlashFlood #Flooding #ExtremeWeather
