@kara_marlene: Now that the trial is over, I keep coming back to one piece of testimony that I do not think got enough attention. Patrick Clancy said that when he found Lindsay outside the house, she was able to respond to him. He said she told him she had tried to kill herself. He said that when he asked where the children were, she indicated they were in the basement. And Patrick has also said Lindsay told him she did it. But then we heard the medical testimony. When Lindsay arrived for emergency treatment, her Glasgow Coma Scale score was reportedly 10. A GCS of 10 reflects significantly impaired consciousness. The ER testimony described a patient who was not communicating normally and whose condition ultimately became serious enough that she required intubation. Now, to be fair, her condition could have deteriorated between the time Patrick found her and the time doctors evaluated her. So I am not saying the medical testimony automatically disproves Patrick’s account. But after hearing the entire trial, I think the timing matters. Because the question becomes: How alert was Lindsay, exactly, when these alleged statements were made? How clearly was she communicating? How reliable were those statements in that moment? And how much of what we later heard came directly from Lindsay versus being filtered through Patrick’s recollection? A GCS of 10 does not answer all of that. But it absolutely makes me look harder at the timeline. Patrick said she told him. The medical testimony says she arrived significantly impaired. Both facts belong in the same conversation.
