In college, I didn’t come home for a few weeks because of finals, and when I came home I found out my uncle had literally almost died from blood poisoning, another time my mother was talking about her cousin “coming back to NYC to sell uncle Laurent’s apartment,” and that’s how I found out my great uncle died.

I remember as a little kid my mom told me and my little brother are FULL blood siblings but biologically our older brother is a half sibling. His bio dad died and she got with mine and had 2 more.

Ngl I was dumb as a kid. Had an "uncle" Sabah who wasn't even the same race as us 🤣 Like I genuinely never put 2 and 2 together and just thought he got more of rhe native American gene or something. Found out as a teen he was an Iraqi refugee who had just lived with our family since he was a kid and the family had basically adopted. He ended up joining the U.S. Military and did 3 tours in Iraq and moved back there after things settled down, married and last I heard he has a few kids now. Haven't gotten to hear from him in over a decade now and hope he's still doing well

Not my lore, but my dad found after his deadbeat father died that he has a half sister and a niece. The dude knocked my grandma up, left, and had a whole other family while refusing to acknowledge my dad’s existence. My dad never reached out to her because “she had a dad she loved and who was there for her. I’m not gonna be the reason she sees him differently.”

I didn't learn until I was 17 that I had two different half brothers, one of which who had been prison and was still in prison, I didn't learn until another 2 and 1/2 years later that the non-imprisoned one has had kids, both of which who are older than I am, I was an uncle since birth and never found out till I was 19 (note my dad is also really old, like in his 50's when he had me old so it's not that surprising that his kids had kids)
