Ash Dykes has completed Day 2 of his Congo Basin expedition, and his latest update has revealed what the team plans to do next. After another long day travelling along the river, Ash and his team arrived at Bayanga, a small fishing town, earlier than expected. It was a welcome development after hours of paddling under the heat. But here’s where things get interesting… TOMORROW, THE KAYAKS STAY BEHIND. 🌿 According to Ash, the team plans to leave the river temporarily and venture into the jungle for approximately a day. After that, they expect to return to their kayaks and continue their journey. This means the next update could look very different from the first two days. Instead of spending the day paddling downstream, the team will be exploring the rainforest on foot, where they could encounter a completely different side of the Congo Basin. And there’s another detail worth paying attention to. Ash mentioned that the sounds of the jungle are amazing. Imagine being surrounded by a vast rainforest, hearing wildlife and the natural sounds of a landscape that many people will never experience firsthand. The Congo Basin is home to extraordinary biodiversity, including forest elephants, gorillas, chimpanzees and countless other species. However, which animals the team might encounter during its upcoming jungle exploration remains to be seen.
