Romo, 46, was playing in the final round of a Korn Ferry Tour pre-qualifier in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was an amateur seeking playing privileges on the tour. According to Golf.com, officials later found his scorecard was wrong. He wrote down a 4 on the 16th hole and a 4 on the 17th. But the players with him said he made a 5 on both. Romo signed the lower scores and did not fix the error within 15 minutes of leaving the scoring area. That broke the rules, and he was disqualified. Golf.com reports Romo took responsibility. A rules official said he was later “very complimentary” about the event. Even with the 4s, he would not have advanced. The same day, CBS Sports announced it had “mutually agreed to part ways” with him. He had been on indefinite leave since his July 23 arrest in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. That is an arrest, not a conviction.
