In the beginning the other mother makes the doll to look like coraline, but before that she looked like the sister of the grandma. the grandma's sister went missing when they were young. Mister Bobbinski is younger than the grandma. if his daughter was last before coraline the doll would've looked like her, not the sister

Mr bobinsky canonly worked at the Chernobyl disaster cleanup. He also has a heavy russian accent and a heavy accent is standard for anyone who hasnt started learning the language before or around 10. Considering by how heavy it is, his cleanup medal and his age he likely started learning english less than 10 years ago from when the movie took place. So he moved to the US anywhere from 1986-2000. Since the iron curtian was still in place and the USSR was trying to cover up as much of the disaster as possible, and the fact that the economy in the USSR was in literal shambles after the collapse the earliest he would have moved id say would be 1991-1994. While the ghost kid have all died in 1921, 1936 and 1960
