I remember being able to just purchase the ticket from the bus driver for like $2. cash or card, and you would get a little paper ticket reciept. They stopped doing this because you could 'share'. so 1 person purchasing an all day ticket would then give it to someone else when they got off if it wasn't need it anymore, they didn't like the fact not every single person was being charged.

I wish more people would actually think outside the square when it comes to tapping on and off with Myki! It's NOT just about collecting fares. That data also helps show how many people are using public transport, which stations they're travelling between and where demand is greatest. It's valuable information when planning additional services, train frequencies and capacity. Yet some people think they're being clever by not tapping on, then turn around and complain that their train is overcrowded or there aren't enough services! It's not just about the money. It's about understanding demand and planning for the future.
