Your observations and concerns are on spot. The fundamental questions begging for answers is; why did the execution failed? What is the state doctrine in case of botched first execution? Who decides what procedure to adopt to end the life of a condemned inmate.

I struggle with examining this because of my personal views on the death penalty. With that said, if it is obvious that the state can not carry out sentence as ordered, it would be necessary to commute sentence to life without parole, or, if intent to carry out the sentence obviously a medical specialist would have to ensure proper delivery, which then brings in the "do no harm" commitment of the medical professional. All very disturbing.

The crux of the issue is that broad reform needs to be a priority! People in prison should not be in the hands of corporate CEOs. Not to even get into failing all the way up the ladder from actually trying to reform people, not institutionalized for profit. They need to stop the death penalty period. I get there are people that belong in prison forever but killing people? I just don't know?

I think they should get a new death warrant and carry it out weather it be via electric chair or thru firing squad or lethal injection but use a ultrasound to make sure its in the vein or use a port for it like they do for chemotherapy patients.
