@_biologynow: Ever wondered why dragonflies form a heart shape while mating? 🐉🪽 Dragonflies have one of the most unusual mating positions in the insect world. The male uses specialized structures at the end of his abdomen to hold the female behind her head. The female then curves her abdomen forward to connect with the male’s reproductive organs, creating the famous “mating wheel” that can look like a heart. ❤️ In some species, the pair can even remain connected while flying. 🧬 Follow @_biologynow for more fascinating biology, zoology, animals and science! #Biology #Dragonfly #Zoology #Entomology #Insects AnimalBiology Nature Wildlife AnimalBehavior Science BiologyFacts ScienceFacts Educational STEM USA English
