making money online isn’t hard. Confidence is. And before you come for me in the comments, hear me out. Most women I speak to aren’t struggling because they’re not intelligent enough. They’re not struggling because they can’t learn. They’re not struggling because they don’t have the skills. They’re struggling because they don’t believe they can do it. Especially women in their 40s, 50s and beyond. We weren’t raised with social media. We weren’t taught digital marketing at school. We didn’t grow up glued to smartphones. So we look at younger creators making money online and assume they know something we don’t. But here’s the truth. Nobody knows what they’re doing when they start. I certainly didn’t. I started this business at 56. I didn’t understand digital products. I wasn’t technical. I wasn’t confident. I didn’t have some secret advantage. What I did have was bills to pay and a decision to make. I could either keep telling myself I wasn’t ready… Or I could start anyway. And that’s what most successful people do. They start before they feel ready. Because the women who keep researching, keep watching, keep learning and keep waiting until they “fully understand it” rarely get anywhere. They’re still researching six months later. Still waiting for confidence. Still waiting for certainty. Still waiting for permission. Confidence doesn’t come first. Action comes first. Confidence follows. And let’s be honest… By the time many women reach their 50s, life has done a pretty good job of knocking their confidence. Menopause. Children growing up and leaving home. Career changes. Relationships changing. The constant feeling that somehow you’re supposed to fade into the background. Well, I don’t agree. Building something of your own changes that. Making your own money changes that. Knowing you created something that people want changes that. Watching sales arrive on your phone changes that. Not because of the money itself. Because of what it represents. Freedom. Choice. Independence. Proof that you’re capable of far more than you’ve been giving yourself credit for. Digital products are not complicated. You create something useful and sell it repeatedly. Think of it like selling photocopies while keeping the original. The customer gets the copy. You keep the original. And every new customer pays you again. That’s the business model. That’s it. Simple doesn’t mean effortless. You’ll still need to learn. You’ll still need to take action. You’ll still need to get out of your comfort zone. But you do not need to be confident before you begin.
