this was my exact issue with the riddler in the new batman movie. the entire movie he was about the people and making an example of the corrupt assholes, and then at the very end he was like "and now for my finale, I'll flood the city and potentially murk a ton of innocents. whoops"

People always complain about a making a character with good motivations evil, but I have the opposite problem. Why are we giving these evil characters good motivations. Space Hitler does not to have a tragic backstory “justifying” his actions, he can just be evil (Megatron, Thanos, Doom)
