The landscape of the British Isles is steeped in Folklore that stretches from the ancient wildwoods to river banks and hedgerows that are carpeted in rare wildflowers. Bluebells have long since inspired many legends, mainly those surrounding the fairy folk. The old Folklore says that if you fall asleep in a bluebell wood, then you could be stolen away by the faeries and taken into another realm. It also says that before entering an enchanted woodland, you should always ask the faeries' permission otherwise they may bring forth ill fortune upon you. This was evident when my phone, balanced very securely on its tripod, fell out of nowhere and landed directly onto the only pointed rock in the wooded glade 😂 These old folk stories and legends were born as a way to teach people to respect, revere, and be weary of the natural world. They show us just how interconnected humans once were with nature, and how by discovering the old Folklore and traditions we can gain a deeper respect and care for the wild pockets of these lands. If you visit an ancient bluebell woodland, take care when walking amongst the flowers, being careful not to crush any and generally being mindful of your place amongst the trees. Beautiful scenes captured with @insta360_official GO 3S.
