@ketavibes: The Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, has raised concerns over delays in Ghana’s coastal protection efforts, questioning the prolonged feasibility studies and the continued reliance on emergency relief for communities devastated by tidal waves. Speaking on the issue, the Keta MP questioned when feasibility studies for coastal protection projects would translate into actual construction, particularly as vulnerable coastal communities continue to lose homes, ancestral lands and cemeteries to the advancing sea. “Where will the feasibility study end?” he asked, expressing concern over the resources committed to studies while affected residents continue to await lasting solutions. Hon. Gakpey also challenged Ghana to learn from neighbouring Togo, where coastal protection interventions have incorporated land reclamation, beach restoration and coconut plantations. He questioned whether Ghana’s approach, which in some locations relies heavily on placing rocks along the shoreline, adequately addresses the long-term needs of endangered communities. “Our neighbours here, Togo, are doing nice sea defence projects where they reclaim land and plant a lot of coconut plantations. But we are still in the budget constraints straight jacket. What are we doing to Ghana? Are we not going to learn from others?” he asked. The MP further expressed concern over the recurring distribution of relief items to victims of tidal waves, arguing that communities need sustainable protection rather than repeatedly depending on emergency assistance after disasters. He called for a rethink of Ghana’s sea defence designs, urging authorities to explore appropriate combinations of engineering solutions, land reclamation and nature-based interventions that could provide more comprehensive coastal protection. His concerns renew the debate over the urgency of implementing coastal protection plans as vulnerable communities along the Volta coastline continue to face the threat of erosion and displacement. For residents whose communities have been washed away, the pressing question remains whether feasibility studies and project funding will translate into timely, lasting protection. 🎥 JOY NEWS, Teaching High Priest

Who is blaming who?
This is where I get angry and speak the way I don't want...
What was the commentary by these people and the people in Volta during the era of the previous government concerning this issue?
They were demonize as if nothing was being to mitigate these problems,I know,,and I am sure, that keta sea defense was started by kufuor, that alone tells there was a deliberate attempt to solving such problem, but what happened, the previous government was attacked, things were said against them as if everything that was going on in that part of volta region was caused by the NPP, forgetting there's a party that 90% of the people in the region vote for..
To who is he complaining to,is he not in government, why can't he speak to his government directly with the passion they spoke when they were in opposition?
It's been 2 years already, the 8yrs will be over and nothing will done, but the NPP will be called devils the moment they come into power and the unfortunate incident continues to happen, when Anyako got flooded, did anyone blamed the government, when Hohoe Zongo flooded recently, who blame the government?
We are here...
