I am seeing more and more preparedness videos. What am I missing - is this an underground method of getting the UK residents ready without directly saying the shit is going to hit the fan soon?

Living through the 70’s “hot boxing” was the norm.. hot water bottles, flasks of hot water for porridge, tea, coffee etc. tea light on a plate with a terracotta pot over the top will heat a room for hours

Prepared Mama :
Put a tent in the warmest room and have everyone gather inside. It creates a smaller microclimate that’s easier to keep warm using body heat. Also tea lights under terracotta pots give a bit of warmth too. Never leave them unattended tho’!

moved into an empty house in winter, it was -5⁰c at midday but we knew the house had a new boiler so we thought it would be warm by evening.
got in and started flushing the heating pipework because it had been drained, took till 5pm for the water to run clear, turned the gas on only to find the copper gas pipe had been stolen.
dropped to -7⁰c outside, just as cold inside with no heating, my wife, two kids 7 and 9 and me.
went through all our packed boxes and found the 4 man tent, set it up in the living room with a king-sizemattressunderneathfor insulationand comfort, then got the summer and winter duvets and totally covered the tent.
snug and warm, woke up in the morning too hot, it was -9 outside the tent.
bodies are radiators.

I’ve been prepping for years! Have 2 jackerys with solar panels, a water filtration system, log burner, Kelly kettle and a fully stocked pantry.

I was in the great flood of 2015 in Lancaster - no power for days, no internet, no petrol stations , no shops - the gas hob was a life saver as was my log burner - we kept one room warm and thank god for a wind up radio
