Dkojo :
About 70% to 75% of lawyers graduating each year are already part of the working class and gainfully employed in various fields such as accounting, banking, medicine, nursing, engineering,IT and others.
Most of these individuals will remain in their current roles while adding law to their expertise, primarily to function at the corporate level.
Even with the remaining 25% to 30% who are fresh entrants into the job market, not less than 20% to 25% will go into corporate practice, especially since law schools have more women than men, many of whom prefer corporate roles to litigation.
Don't forget, there is also a good number of people who just want the 'Esq.' added to their name for prestige and will never practice law at all.
Therefore, you end up with only about 5% to 10% actually joining mainstream courtroom practice and law firms.
This is the very reason why, despite the numbers being produced, lawyers are still not enough considering our population.
And do you know the number of doctors, nurses, engineers, IT professional, all the universities in Ghana produces each year?
