night entry I may be addicted to pool, or obsessed, or something. I'm not saying this as a cry for help, not at all. I'm actually quite satisfied with my current interest. A hobby that may or may not last, such as many things of mine that have lived or died out.  I remember when I was a kid, my then alcoholic, now sober father would take me to Gage Bowl to play at the tables. I'm not a shark, I wish I was, but I'm just an amateur. You can tell from my inconsistency. I hadn't played pool in a long time, like really played pool. In my early 20s I briefly played with my cousins in Mexico, or there was once that I played with my old coworkers at this bar named, Cole’s… but I guess after I began to play consistently in my adulthood, did I trigger a flashback that nearly felt like it concussed me.  Trauma doesn't seem fond of predictability. It's either always suffocating and intimidating you, or it likes to play games in sneaking up on you whenever it feels like it. A true bully really. I remember not being able to look over the pool table. That's how small I was. I was always looking for her, and it happened to be the rooms with pool tables that I'd expect her to be in.  As far as I can remember, she was my introduction to my obsessiveness. I can place myself back there and vividly recall my bodily sensations every time I was in their house or the anticipation before going to their house. I felt anxious, nervous, confused, fearful, perplexed, excited? Its complicated. I hadn’t seen her in so long, I didn’t know she’d appear in objects I thought were only mine. But I guess she’s taken that too. Throughout the years, I did a lot of work for myself that I could say I am proud of. Undid and unlearned a lot of what tainted me. Healing isn't linear, so I know I should give myself some grace whenever I have these triggering moments. And remind myself that it's only because scars will forevermore remain tender.
