So guys, here’s a simple SMC explanation for a new trader that no body tells you: 💧 Liquidity Think of liquidity as a pool of orders sitting around obvious price levels. A lot of traders place their stop losses in predictable areas: * Above previous highs * Below previous lows * Around equal highs * Around equal lows Smart-money traders look for these areas because they contain many orders. Example: Price creates two similar highs: High ─────── High ⬆️ Liquidity Many sellers may have their stop losses just above those highs. Price can push above the highs, trigger those stops, and then reverse. That’s called a liquidity sweep/grab. Simple idea: Liquidity is where the orders are. A liquidity sweep is price taking those orders before potentially moving in the opposite direction. ⸻ ⚡ FVG — Fair Value Gap An FVG (Fair Value Gap) is an imbalance created when price moves very aggressively in one direction. Imagine three candles: Bullish FVG: Candle 1 | Candle 2 🚀 | Candle 3 If the movement is so aggressive that there is a gap/inefficiency between Candle 1’s high and Candle 3’s low, that area becomes a bullish FVG. Price may later come back into that area before continuing higher. Bearish FVG is the opposite: Candle 1 | Candle 2 🔻 | Candle 3 Price aggressively moves down, leaving an imbalance that price may later revisit. ⸻ 🧠 How they work together in SMC A very common setup is: 1. Identify liquidity ⬇️ 2. Price sweeps the liquidity ⬇️ 3. Market structure shifts / BOS ⬇️ 4. Price creates an FVG ⬇️ 5. Price returns to the FVG ⬇️ 6. Look for your entry For example: Sell setup: Equal Highs → Liquidity Sweep → BOS ↓ → FVG → Retracement → SELL The key thing for a new trader is: Don’t trade every FVG you see. An FVG by itself isn’t automatically a trade. Context matters—liquidity + market structure + displacement + FVG is much stronger than simply seeing a gap and entering. Easy way to remember: * 💧 Liquidity = where the orders/stops are * 🧹 Sweep = price takes those orders * ⚡ FVG = imbalance created by aggressive movement * 🎯 Entry = wait for price to return to your area with confirmation
