I got left at school until midnight because I called the woman that raised me to come pick me up after cheer practice because nobody else could bring me home, also I called from my coaches phone as I didn't have one, she said she was putting the kids to bed and would be right there (we were all teenagers, she was talking about the new kids she brought in when the older boys aged out of her house) I couldn't find anyone in all of Big Sky High School until a janito was leaving at midnight and got startled by me being up front still. She took me to the library and let me use the phone. The woman who raised me was asleep, she said she thought I was at home asleep in my bed, even though she was the one who was supposed to come get me. Then she proceeded to yell at me the whole way home for making her look like a bad parent and not calling her sooner. I got so mad I told her to pull over and let me walk the rest of the way home because I should be mad at her not the other way around. She did. For context, she made us sign up for flagship and sports/clubs but wouldn't pick us up after and wanted us to ask our friends to bring us home because gas is too expensive. She adopted us and got paid for us until we graduated or turned 18, whichever happened last. All of my high-school friends were also broke and gas IS expensive and I lived in a different school district so none of them lived near me, but she didn't care, it was either that or I walk if she didn't want to come get me. It was a 2 hour walk from Big Sky to the house I grew up in and cheer practice didn't let out until 8pm.
