தீவாளி என்பது நல்ல சொல் தான் ஆனால் அது பொதுவாக வட இந்திய இந்துக்கள் பயன்படுத்துகின்ற சொல்,
ஆனால் தமிழர்கள் பொதுவாக *தீபாவளி*
என்று சொல்வது மொழிக்கும் சமயத்திற்கும் இரண்டுக்கும் நடுநிலையாக நடுநிலைத்தரும் உரிமை நிலை சார்ந்தது

In my opinion, many things are happening in our country at the moment. However, I believe that these issues should not be considered so serious that they require immediate changes.😏😏😏

People think its cool or fashionable to say it in North Indian Hindi language rather than the majority South Indian population here.

Yes, “Deepavali” is more appropriate to be used on the banner, not only to preserve the long-standing Tamil cultural traditions of the Tamil community in Malaysia, but also because the meaning behind the word itself carries significance.
Dīpāvalī (दीपावली) is the Sanskrit form, meaning “a row of lamps.” Deepavali is a common modern spelling of this Sanskrit-derived name, widely used among Tamil and other South Indian communities.
The word itself carries a beautiful meaning:
* Deepa (दीप) :lamp or light.
* Avali (आवली) :row or series.
For Tamil people, this meaning beautifully reflects the tradition of lighting lamps and offering prayers — “Deepam yethi vazhipadu” (தீபம் ஏற்றி வழிபாடு).
“Diwali,” on the other hand, is a shorter form commonly associated with Hindi and other North Indian language usage, which has also become widely used in English.
Therefore, using “Deepavali” on the banner is a meaningful way to honour Tamil cultural heritage, preserve our traditional terminology and reflect the deeper significance of the festival’s name.
