@newyorker: Trudie’s Tavern in Brooklyn is an amalgamation. With its pink napkins, blue velvet upholstery, dirty Martinis, oysters, and a lusty strip steak dripping in bone-marrow butter, it’s certainly romantic. But it’s also a casual restaurant, good for a burger and a beer with a friend, or an early dinner with the kids. It’s a little kitschy, too: the bathroom, with 80s-era baseball memorabilia and multicolored party lighting. “The menu is a similar mishmash,” Helen Rosner writes.
