Ummm, you know Korra and Asami were a thing right? What does it matter? Now they are letting same sex relationships in shows and movies. I have no problems with it as long as the show is good.

The original didn’t have all this gender politics and same sex marriage stuff being pushed into the story, and even the jokes were straight-up with no feelings to protect. 😂 The Last Airbender was epic because Aang was allowed to be Aang, and the story focused on the characters, their growth, the humour and the adventure. That’s why it’s going to be so hard to bring that magic back. You can recreate the characters and the world, but capturing the same spirit that made the original so special is a completely different challenge.
