COME INSIDE A NORTH SEA OIL RIG WITH ME… YOU MIGHT BE SURPRISED BY WHAT’S IN HERE! 🌊🚁 Forget what you think life on an oil rig looks like. Today, we're taking a walk around an offshore platform to see where workers sleep, eat, exercise, and relax after a long shift. Let's start with the living quarters. After working 12 hours, this is where you come back to rest. Depending on the platform, your cabin might have a bed, storage, a TV, and even your own bathroom. Some workers get private rooms, while others share. Now, check out this recreation room! You've got pool tables, snooker, darts, table tennis, comfortable sofas, and a big-screen TV. When you're spending weeks away from home, having somewhere to unwind makes a big difference. Next up, the laundry room. On some installations, you can drop off your work clothes and collect them later, freshly washed and folded. But now, let's head to the galley! This is where the crew comes to eat. You might find hot meals, cereals, fresh fruit, salads, desserts, drinks, and plenty of options to keep you going through those long shifts. And if you're into fitness, take a look at the gym! Some offshore platforms have treadmills, exercise bikes, free weights, resistance machines, and dedicated cardio areas. So even when you're surrounded by nothing but ocean, you can still keep up with your workout routine. There's more, too. Depending on the installation, you might find a medical room, lounges, telephone facilities, a small shop, and dedicated spaces to relax or contact your family. And here's something you might not expect: some platforms even have saunas, steam rooms, or music rooms where workers can play instruments during their downtime. Imagine finishing your shift, grabbing a meal, hitting the gym, and relaxing with your crewmates before heading back to your cabin. Of course, not every rig has these facilities. Offshore life also means strict safety rules, long shifts, and time away from the people you love. But now you can see that life offshore can be about much more than machinery and drilling. So, if you could visit just one place on this rig, would you choose the gym, the recreation room, or the galley?
