💥 “YOU’RE SO….!” For a lot of us, somebody finished that sentence long before we ever knew we had ADHD. Maybe it was something you heard as a kid. Maybe it came from a partner, teacher, parent, friend or coworker. And sometimes you hear a label enough times that eventually you start carrying it around like it must be true. 🧠 But behavior has context. ADHD can affect executive functioning, working memory, impulse control, emotional regulation, attention and the ability to start, stop or shift between tasks. So what someone sees from the outside as a character flaw may sometimes have a completely different reason underneath it. 💗 Struggling to start something doesn’t automatically mean you don’t care. 💗 Forgetting something important doesn’t automatically mean it wasn’t important to you. 💗 Reacting strongly doesn’t automatically mean you’re trying to create drama. 💗 Needing clarification, structure or reassurance doesn’t automatically mean you’re trying to be difficult. Understanding the reason behind a behavior doesn’t erase its impact or mean ADHD explains everything. But there is a huge difference between understanding what your brain is struggling with and spending your whole life believing every negative label somebody gave you. And sometimes learning that difference changes the way you see yourself. ❤️ 💥 What negative label were you called as a kid or in your adult life that has stuck with you? And looking back now, what ADHD struggle do you think may have been underneath it? I really want to hear these. 🚨 Follow for relatable ADHD chaos, education and the stuff nobody explained to us sooner ❤️
