🎬 Eva Marie Saint. A Hollywood Original Hollywood has lost one of its greats. Eva Marie Saint has died at 102. Her screen career began with one hell of an entrance. In 1954, Saint made her film debut opposite Marlon Brando in Elia Kazan’s On the Waterfront and won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Edie Doyle. Then came Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest. As Eve Kendall, Saint was cool, mysterious, seductive and completely in command. Opposite Cary Grant, she brought a sophistication and danger to the role that made her one of Hitchcock’s most memorable leading women. Hitchcock famously worked with her on everything from her wardrobe to her voice and mannerisms, helping create the character from the outside in. And Saint’s career didn’t stop there. Exodus. Raintree County. All Fall Down. The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming. Grand Prix. She worked with some of the biggest names in cinema, while deliberately choosing a more selective career so she could devote time to her family. She later found success in television, winning an Emmy for People Like Us, and continued acting well into her later years, including Superman Returns and Winter’s Tale. But for many of us, there will always be that image… Eva Marie Saint. Cary Grant. Hitchcock. North by Northwest. A face, a voice, a glance and suddenly you’re watching movie-star magic. Thank you, Eva. And what a way to leave a legacy. 🎬❤️ #EvaMarieSaint #NorthByNorthwest #Hitchcock #ClassicCinema #FilmTok
