@offenceregister: Child Sex Offender Priest Heads Down Below 👇 FULL CASE DETAILS BELOW 👇 An 85-year-old former Catholic priest jailed for sexually abusing two young boys has died in prison just months into a nine-year sentence. The High Court heard that Vincent Cassidy abused his position of trust during the 1970s, targeting an eight-year-old child and a 16-year-old boy across churches, a primary school, and public venues in Paisley, Greenock, and Moray. His offences included repeated sexual assaults and lewd practices. Cassidy was extradited from Australia to face prosecution. Following a trial at the High Court in Paisley, a jury unanimously convicted him of two charges of indecent assault and one of lewd and libidinous practices. In April 2026, Judge Sheena Fraser sentenced him to nine years' imprisonment, condemning his egregious breach of trust. The Scottish Prison Service confirmed Cassidy died in custody at HMP Low Moss on 3 October 2026. A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be conducted.
