@livingwellwithdrmichelle: Told you need a crown? Do one thing before you schedule it. To place a crown, the tooth is ground down on every side, all the way around and across the top, to make room for the porcelain. That takes off almost all of the enamel, the strongest, most protective part of your tooth. And once it is done, it can never be undone. Sometimes a crown is truly the right call. But a lot of the time there is a more conservative option that most people are never offered. So before you schedule, ask what your other options are. Save this and share it with someone who was just told they need a crown. #dentalcrown #toothstructure #conservativedentistry #oralhealth #holisticdentist #biologicaldentistry #dentaleducation #livingwellwithdrmichelle

So Dr, are you saying that we should be doing in Lazar only because the insurance downgrade those to amalgams by the way most patients end up with a huge out-of-pocket cost and on top of it if you’re a grinder and a clincher that’s the worst thing you can put in your mouth you might as well put a crown in their mouth

Know what’s cool? The part where you said what that conservative option was. Super helpful. Thanks for posting.

Meta analysis of tens of thousands of crowns versus onlays vs inlays show that they all have equal outcomes, lifespans, etc. I see just as many failures in onlays as I do with full coverage. Biomemetic and holistic dentistry is such a fear/misinformation based field, more often than not. Very frustrating.

One dentist said pull your tooth, not enough structure…you can do an implant if you want but it’s pricey and painful. The other said there is enough to save the tooth and crown it. I’m so conflicted.😅

@AnnaMae: I assume you’re talking about an overlay or inlay, I’ve never been offered one by a dentist in United States. I did have an overlay done in Australia, but it didn’t last five years🤷🏾‍♀️

The least likely for a crown to fail is at the gumline due to the constant saliva protecting the margins. Not too below, not too above, just at the gumline due

Yeah, I’m fine in this out in my 60s. I have four crowns and lost three of my teeth due to crayons and now they want me to get teeth and points and I’m scared the death due to root canal and plant that I listen to my dentist, kind of like listening to the doctor without getting a second opinion. 😢😳

What if the tooth is covered with a big metal piece covering the cavity. It’s in the very back I’m thinking getting in pulled instead of a crown. Also it’s 1100 for a crown I’m getting quoted. Thank you so much for anything input and sharing what you have in this video.

Most of the time doc? So the majority of the time dentist are incorrect? Secondly, what do you do once more natural tooth breaks after an only? Now is that dentist also lying? Not a fan of dentist trying to create hesitancy and distrust with patients and their dentist

A crown does require removing tooth structure, so asking why is fair. The right option depends on how much sound tooth remains and where the damage is; an onlay may fit some cases, but not all. I’m Qasim, founder of DentaSmart, Your Personal AI Dentist in Your Pocket; Treatment Plan Review can help people make sense of a written recommendation and X-rays before discussing it with a dentist.

Please stop spreading misinformation that confuses the layman and undermines this profession. Doing this for self gain is even more unethical.
