I have a question. So they replaced some of my Indigenous percentages (Native American) and they added Quebec??? I pretty much traced back all my ancestors. Is Quebec just telling me the region where my ancestors are from? I do know that some of the tribes I am from comes from that area before it was colonized. I have a random 1% France too.

I’m begging yall to actually read the info they give you. When you dig into the “more info” section it tells you a ball park percentage and the big bold number is their best guesstimate of your percentage. It is NOT concrete. People put wayyyyy too much stock into the percentages. And also in the more info section you also see “also seen in France” for Quebec. The reason they can differentiate the two is because French Canadians have a bit of a different genetic marker than modern day French people since the French mainly went to Canada in the 16-1700s their dna was isolated from the dna changes that occurred after. But yes sometimes it can be conflated. I have French ancestors that came to US in 1880s AND french Canadian ancestors and yes ancestry is conflating the two in my tests. It likely just means your genetic marker match more closely with the French Canadian people than modern day French in their testing pool. And with these types of tests being illegal in France it’s kinda tricky to get a large and comprehensive testing population from France. Doesn’t necessarily mean the tests is wrong

I got Acadia also in update and my mom and maternal close relatives got more.. Can't figure it out all my lines on all sides was early settlers pioneers of Eastern Kentucky Appalachia going back to late 1700s.. Must be something Im missing but been working on tree since the late 90s.. If we have some Acadia Ancestors it must be from way back

I think the updates are useless in my opinion. what's the point of really having 1% or 2% or even 3% showing of anything?

look at your chromosome browser, there are so many unknown areas now, yet ancestry guesses and displays it as 100% even though (for me at least) 17% is unknown.

The only thing that feels not right is the German. I have German ancestors on every side of my family. My mother’s maiden name is Wöerdehoff. Her great grandparents moved to USA from Germany. It just seems really low.
