How to insert a menstrual cup step by step ⬇️ 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Make sure your cup is clean and sterilised if it is your first time using it for the cycle. 2. Get comfortable. You can sit on the toilet, squat, or stand with one leg raised. Choose what feels most natural for your body. 3. Relax your pelvic muscles. Take a slow breath in and out. Tension makes insertion harder. 4. Fold the cup.
Common folds include:
• C fold, where you press the cup in half to form a C shape.
• Punch down fold, where you push one side of the rim down into the base to make the insertion point smaller. 5. Hold the fold firmly and gently insert the cup, aiming it toward your tailbone, not straight up. 6. Once the cup is fully inside, let it open. You can rotate it slightly or run a clean finger around the base to check that it has fully opened and formed a seal. 7. Check placement. The cup should sit lower than a tampon and you should not feel it when it is positioned correctly. If it feels uncomfortable, remove it and try again. 8. To remove, wash your hands, gently pinch the base to release the seal, and slowly pull it out while keeping it upright. #pads #menstrualhealth #southafricantiktok🇿🇦 #menstrualproducts
