Ibn muflih al hanbali said “the apparent meaning of the statements of most scholars is that writing is not disliked for a woman, just as it is not disliked for a man. Ibn ‘Aqli mentioned this in al funun, and it is also the apparent meaning of what has been transmitted from Imam Ahmad” (al Adab al shariyyah). Also ibn kathir praised Sutaytah bint al mahamili by saying “she studied the Quran and memorized jurisprudence, the laws of inheritance, arithmetic, circular problems, grammar, and other subjects. She was among the most knowledgeable people of her time regarding the shafi’i school." (al bidayah wal nihayah)

I remember a video from a woman talking about how she escaped her abusive family. She didn’t mention Islam once (she was Muslim) but every single comment was a variation of “remember that it’s culture not religion….please tell people this isn’t Islam.” Folks don’t give af about people. Just PR, power and influence.
