Good morning, friends 🤍 I figured we’re due for a Moose update, and I apologize we’ve been slow at giving them, but that was actually intentional 🫣 We shared Moose’s diagnosis of kennel cough, and his bronchitis complication. Moose had been thoroughly examined by his vet, twice, and scans were done. However every time we posted an update, I got dozens and dozens of messages and comments with people diagnosing him with other things, or saying we need to switch vets, or saying we need a second opinion or telling me how their dog died from another complication. Please know that I truly understand these messages come from a place of caring about Moose, too. This isn’t about putting anyone down. We’re all here because we love Moose and want him feeling 100% again. 🤎 We love Moose endlessly, and we would never hesitate to get him the care he needs. I spend nearly all day, every day with him, and if he even walks the slightest bit differently, I’m on it and watching him like a hawk. I know this dog as well as I know myself. All that to say… I’m someone who struggles with anxiety. Every day. All the time. We knew we were doing our best for Moose, following his vet’s treatment plan and giving him the time he needed to recover. But messages telling me my dog’s trachea had collapsed… or that his cough meant he actually had brain cancer… or his heart was enlarged…had me Googling things at 2 a.m. when I really just needed to be sleeping. 😅 So, we decided to step back from the updates for a bit and let Moose heal and rest in peace. 🤍 Now for the update (if you’ve made it this far 😉). We’re feeling really hopeful that Moose is finally turning a corner 🤞🏽 Since Monday, he’s maybe coughed once (and honestly, I question whether it was even a cough or a hairball, since it happened while he was grooming himself 😅). His appetite, drinking, and activity levels are all normal. Because he had bronchitis, he likely just needed that extra time to let his airways heal. We’ve been holding him back from things he loves to do this time of year - like going to the cabin and spending time in the woods - to let him rest, but I know he’ll be thrilled to get back into it. Thank you to everyone who kept him in their thoughts and prayed for him. It was tough seeing our big boy sick, but it’s wonderful having his sparkle and spunk completely back. ✨🤎
