I can’t remember where I read it but didn’t Cole decide to stay a hype man to get Braid through the war because he saw him slipping? It was also said that after the war Cole was a very quiet person, found alone with his thoughts a lot of the time.

You’re missing the point the backstory is irrelevant. I don’t care what she’s gone through she is still a melodramatic, overly emotional, boring character. The point of comparing her to Cole Train is to show the dramatically different design philosophies between the two characters and how the Mags is totally opposed to the original vibe and themes of the originals. The idea of perseverance and brotherhood in the face of insurmountable odds whilst still retaining hope. Mags spends the whole game being depressed, melancholic, and whiny. I understand that’s the vibe they were going for, but at least imo it’s a less satisfying direction and left me feeling annoyed with her character. She’s simply not as interesting or memorable as other Gears characters like Cole, Baird, or the Carmines

i was also on the hate train as i was larping, i only ever played gears 2 partly, and honestly people like you got me into truly playing the entire series and not listen to the haters about the new gears, i got it and i was enjoying it despite the alleged "woke"-ification, people piss on anything thats inclusive nowdays, why do people buy games to critique be it them including pride flags, or not having breakable lightposts, just enjoy the game man
